The spiced Portuguese sardine is a style that Nuri seems to dominate. Are these as good as Nuri? No, but they still made for a tasty lunch. 4 medium sized pilchards in a spiced olive oil. Strong clove flavors with no noticeable heat from the piri piri pepper. The oil was decent quality. The texture of the fish was soft and flaky. Lots of scales, but they were quite soft so not as noticeable. Good level of salt. I enjoyed these, but Nuri will always reign supreme in this category. Also in my experience flower spiced sardines are also better than these and cheaper.
